How does the display work, whats best to save power?

Is it like an eÌnk Display that only uses power to change its state or is it better to keep as much as possible off, like using a watchface with mostly white background to get most out of the battery?

I've looked for the same info inc. Battery capacity but can't find anything on the web.
All I can tell you is I have backlight set to 4 sec, gestures on, smart notifications on for phone calls and text messages. I use the elliptical daily for about 30 min. So no GPS. And I m using a watch face that's black background (GMT 4 from store) and getting 18-20 days out of the battery. That's incredible. Fenix 5
  • changing state is where power is used. CIQ watchfaces only update the entire screen only once a minute at most times due to this. With the new 1hz feature, only small areas of the screen can be updated every second and requires a "smarter" display than is available on things like the va-hr and 735
