Optical Heart Rate sensor keeps turning itself back on??

I find the optical heart rate sensor to not be very reliable so I've turned it off for general wear of the watch and in the native run app. However, every morning when I start my run the OHR is turned back on. Is there a reason I don't know about for this and is there a way I can turn it off permanently until I want to manually turn it back on?

Check your device settings on the Garmin App - there's a setting there for Wrist Heart Rate and you'll probably find that it's turned on. You need to turn it off there because there's a bug at the moment between Connect and the Watch where the settings in the App will always over-write any changes you make on the watch itself.

While OHR may not work for everyone, the usual causes of poor reliability are poor positioning and placement. The band should be snug so that there is no movement on the wrist, and it should be positioned on the fleshy part of the wrist away from the wrist bone. Some people also find they get better results switching to their other wrist.
