Hi
I have just bought my first Garmin Fenix 5X i have just swapped it from my Samsung gear S3...I have only had it for 2 days but sofar so good...The gps accuracy seems pretty good.. However i had read reviews that mention to get a Stryd 2 power meter for extra accuracy...So i also purchases 1 .. i have tried it for the first time today..I use it for walking not running..I had walked the same route twice around a known distance 1.75 mile and on each test the Fenix was pretty accurate...

So i then added the Stryd but the result were poor at least 200 meters out ..Can any one explain to me the correct settings? for the fenix..Do i turn off auto calibrate? ..

The settings i used were
Speed: Indoor
Distance : always
Cal .Factor auto

Hope some one can help

Thanks

Rob

    speed and distance: always
    Auto cailibration: off
    calibration factor: 100

Make sure that you have set your weigth and heigth via the stryd app on the foot pod.
  • '... known distance of 1.75 miles ...'
Are you certain that is the case? That is formally measured rather than from another GPS device.
Maybe that course is 200m shorter than you thought.

Thanks for your replies ..I have entered the information in the watch...I am doing a few short walks to test the accuracy...

Just got back from my 5th walk and am very pleased with the results ...I walked 1600 meters and marked with chalk on the pavement...the first 3 marks were all within 5 feet of each other then 4th lap about 13 feet and the 5th lap worst was 20 foot away ..Very pleased...I will go on longer walk tonight and try some more testing...Also the 1.75 mile walk is exact its a country park and there are post's with distances marked on them.. also i have measured it via google maps and it reports 1.75 miles...

    Thanks
  • I wouldn't be relying on accuracy of park or road distance mark posts. They always round to nearest 1/4 mile at best. Google maps measurements are problematic unless the road/track is dead straight.

I have measured the track via google earth maps so i can follow the track and the Distance with google is 1.77 miles that tallys with the Parks distance..Also i trust google maps ...I have measured my local track via google maps and the 100 metre track is 99.88 meters...the 200 m track is 200.5 and the 400 m =401 meters ..that's accurate enough for me to trust google..and if i were to more precise with my measuring points im sure it would be even more accurate...But Total distance accuracy does'nt really mean much it's the repeatability that i require ...and i have just done another test and it was within 10 feet again so it look like its pretty consistent will try when its more cloudy to see if that has any effect..
  • So you are now not suggesting a problem as you did in your opening post!
Time to end the thread then.
