Default map

Hi all,

I just bought a map from Talkytoaster and while it's easy to ask my X5 to use it by default in the different sports, I have no clue how to ask it to use it as a default map while opening the "map" or "navigation". Also is there a way to delete the maps that are coming with the watch and are no use to me because I live in Canada (like the US TOPO?)

What am I missing?

Thanks!
  • Activity set up

Remember those Avoidances? The Cycling routing activity is by default set up to avoid Major Highways, Unpaved Roads, Ferries, and Narrow Trails. A bike path may be listed in the maps as either an unpaved road or a narrow trail, even if it is paved.

There are other selections that help too. In the activity settings under map, right below Configure Maps is Use Sys. Settings which by default is turned on. If you turn this off, you now have access to the following settings:
    • Orientation
    • User Locations
    • Auto Zoom
    • Lock on Road
    • Track Log
    • Track Color
    • Detail
    • Marine

The one to note here is "Lock on Road". Check to see if that is turned on. Turning it off may be what you have been looking for.

Of course, it is always possible that while your maps display bike trails in the maps, the trails themselves may not all be programmed to be followed. You can always create a course before your ride, send it to your watch, and change the routing settings on your watch to "Follow Course".
