fēnix 5 Series Map preview

Hi all
When I import a course onto the 5x and go into map preview all I get is a load of hash marks no map or preview
I have down a lot of different routs and sent them to the watch through Wikiloc and route planner / dynimac watch same result every time any help would be great

It's because the watch place you on the North Pole.
You just have to un zoom and then put the cursor on the desired zone.

I think it's a bug. I get it if the file I use for navigation is a fit-file. Not a GPX-track or route.

Try to import the course as an activity via Import Data link in the + sign on top of the page. Then save that activity as a course and send to the watch. Then it'll display without an issue.

Do you have to zoom out and then find your course and zoom back in to it ?

I will have to see what type file I was sending

If it is a bug should all 5x not have the same bug ?

Perhaps it's caused by the used programm for sending the courses to the 5x? Send the files to basecamp and from basecamp to the 5x and have a look, if that wotks...

I will try that but I have seen others using the same programm on YouTube and it worked fine if I can get it to work with basecamp that would be good the only windows pc I have is quite old and not great so I was hoping to avoid it thanks for the help

I would suggest your map preview bug is not happening with garmins own web track planer and is caused by the IQ apps you are using.

Have you tried IQMapreceiver App or widget to download tracks from Android to you watch over Bluetooth? https://apps.garmin.com/de-DE/apps/56b3b6e3-eb65-4c8d-8759-4ef007c5456e;jsessionid=BEE0EBA3BB3DF62C01E1D56E7C130482. That should do it fine.

Ok so I created about 10 courses in basecamp and garmin connect and they worked fine no problem. So I guess it is a problem with the third party apps I was using.
I haven't got a chance to try IQMapreceiver yet that schlupp suggested will try it tonight
