Hi gang -- I will get a discount if I order through Garmin, so have been watching their Fenix 5X page. Once upon a time it said "Estimated availability is 5-8 weeks" with a box for my email to say when it became available. Then it switched to "...3-5 weeks" and then the time frame was removed, and just the "email me when it is available" box remained.
But about that time this forum became more and more populated and it is clear there are a number of 5Xs out there how. But...
Amazon, REI, Clever Training, and other retailers are showing only various versions of "sorry, not yet!" on their sites. Garmin's site again says "Estimated availability is 3-5 weeks" with a box for my email to say when it becomes available.
On Instagram (and likely other social media?) @GarminOutdoors is continuing to post awesome pics of the watch and advertise it etc. When I reached out to them they originally said (basically) "Yeah, we let other retailers sell for awhile before we release it on the buy.gsarmin.com site" -- to which I called BS (politely, or so I thought) -- and now when I send inquiries on their posts they ignore me. I've become "that guy" hahaha
So -- where the 5s and the 5 are available a lot of places, the 5X remains elusively 'back-ordered' and I'm getting antsy!!!! I love my F3 but want want want to get my hands on a 5x.
Any of you have any idea what the hold up is, or why Garmin might be so tight-lipped about it?
