Alarm setting getting oversynced by connect

Hi

I set up a recurring alarm on my fenix 5 via garmin connect. Works fine.
But if i set the alarm to off on the watch because of a holiday, the whole alarm will be synced to "on" at the next time -> the watch waked me up on a holiday. yay. :p

If i delete the alarm on the watch it gets back to the watch with the next sync.
If i delete the alarm in connect, and set up one on the watch it will be deleted with the next sync.

this "connect is the master and every setting on the watch get synced away" behaviour isn't very useful.
  • It's a known bug... the workaround for now is to always use connect to set/change/cancel alarms.
  • You'd think Garmin would fix a critical feature like a non-functioning alarm as a matter of urgency. I've sent two emails to support in the last two weeks and haven't received a reply.

Unfortunately I discovered this bug the hard way, as I expect many others have (and will). If they can't get it right then it should just be disabled/removed until it's fixed

    Ok...
Thx, that's what i'm facing too.
But how can i manage to tell in Garmin connect to have my alarm to only Vibration ? In GC, it seem that you can just specify time and recursivity, not the Sound setting.

    Thx,
    Steph

Create the alarm in GC, then edit the sound/vibration settings in GC PC Interface... those settings don't get overwritten.

    No, it does!!!
I've done exactly what you mention. My alarm was create in Connect. Then i go on the watch to set Vibration only, and that's where it always overwrite after a sync.
    You have a different behaviour?

    Thx,
    Steph
  • I had the same issue, you can't use the Garmin Connect from your phone (since it doesn't give you the vibrate/sound option), you have to go into the watch settings on the actual GC website. I fought the same thing for quite a while before I stumbled upon that setting.

    Awesome!
    it works, thx

  • Thanks for this.
I was going nuts, as I set a reoccurring alarm for weekdays, but alarm would not work.
Go back into the watch and alarm settings are blank.
I'll do this in Garmin Connect as a week around.
  • Since a few days ago my alarms have not been overwritten by GC, neither web or mobile where there are NO alarms set.

In the F5 I have 2 recurring alarms ON and 1 non-recurring ON and one non-recurring OFF and they have not been altered in the last syncs

The last time I had my alarms overwritten I deleted everything in GC and in the F5, then I set the alarms mentioned above in the F5 but WITHOUT SETTING LABELS.

Since then about a week ago no more problems of overwriting

Mine dide a ovewrite a couple of hours ago when i was testing. Everything up to date.

Does anybody know if this issue/flaw is being attended by Garmin and any ETA?
