Bluetooth connectivity and HR sensor issues....

I have had iddues with the wrist HR sensor from day one... for example if i do say 15 burpees pause for a 30 seconds and do another 15 burpees... my heart feels like it is coming out of my chest and my fenix 5 says it is somewhere bettween 70-85 bpm... when i do high intensity workouts such and intervals training such as crossfit or orange theory it never picks up my heart rate...

now I have a new problem, after i updated to 3.30, my BT connectivity went to crap... i get connection drops alerts from my watch constantly... it wasn't perfect before but not it is just terrible.
and well the HR sensor has the same issue...

anyone having this issues?
any recommendations???
  • If the HR sensor is the Optical one built-in, then that is the issue. It has been said, here and nearly by every major reviewer oHRM are not reliable or good for any exercise dealing with muscle flexion, for example burpees and dynamic movements done via crossfit. It just can't keep up, grabs erroneous numbers ultimately throwing accuracy out the window. At MOST the OHRM can be use for running, just make sure it's super tight on your wrist. Generally, they serve fine as all day heart rate trackers (nominally).

If you want accuracy, invest in a heart rate chest strap. If you pick up either the HRM-RUN or HRM-TRI from garmin, you'll also has access to advanced running dynamics. If you would rather have a OHRM that records nearly as good as a chest strap, the scosche rhythm plus is the go-to for many. It can be worn on your forearm (above or below) or on your upper arm as well (I personally couldn't, but some do).

There's nothing actually wrong with the OHRM, they just aren't useful for workouts. As for the BT, join the club, there are plenty of posts here about the range and dropout problems. Garmin is working on it.
