Alarms keep disappearing

This has been a re-occurring problem since the previous updates. I would set up a few alarms on my watch and then all of them would eventually disappear. I hope somebody can clarify that this is a user error, rather than a software issue.
  • Make sure you also have the set for the watch on your phone. When a sync occurs, it seems what's on the phone overrides what's set on the watch right now.

Looks like a bug to me, but keeping your phone the same is a work-around for now.
  • Currently the way the things work any settings that can be set in both connect and on the watch will see the connect settings take precedence when the device syncs.

This means that any alarms you set on the watch will eventually get over-written by the alarms you set in connect. And if you haven't set any then it will just simply wipe the watch alarms so the settings match.

So the only way to keep your alarms is to either create them in the app or on the website. The website allows you to specify vibration/tone settings but the app doesn't (or at least the iOS version doesn't).

Obviously this is silly behaviour - it's a known issue that the Connect developers need to fix but I've found they're even slower than the Fenix developers at addressing issues which is probably due to the complexity of the whole eco-system. Fixing one thing tends to break another thing etc..

    Same issue

I have this same problem, but the explanation forgets one thing. Although the set up of the alarm may stay if you set it up on your phone via Garmin Connect, the alarm may be deselected due to an upgrade, so if you go to bed with the alarm set, the update will maintain the presence of the alarm, but deselect it so it doesn't go off....resulting in you being late for work, getting the sack, losing your house, and end up being homeless and addicted to alcohol.....not very fitness orientated is it Garmin?

    Thanks for the suggestions.
I was thinking, too, that the alarms on the Garmin app would overwrite the settings on the phone.
However, it is silly that the watch itself has a feature at all to add a new alarm just to be overwritten after syncing.
I've had to set my alarms from the Garmin Connect website and I haven't had an issue with disappearing alarms for twelve hours now. The tone and vibrations from these alarms are a lot better than the notifications or calendar events sent from my phone.

Interesting, I haven't come across this. I hope you've raised it through the proper channels.
I suspect I haven't come across this due to the fact that I'm pretty much always running on BETAs which I have to manually install myself.

    Its more than just alarms

This was driving me crazy. Yes, whatever is in Garmin Connect will overwrite what is in the watch itself for anything that exists in both. But this gets more frustrating because the mobile app and the website have different options. For example: Mobile app has alarms, and which days, but not alarm type (vibe, tone, vibe & tone). Website has alarm type as well. 'If i set the alarm up on my phone and then change the setting on my watch, it will hold after a sync. If I setup the alarm and then change the setting on my phone, it will be reset after a sync.

Also, on the app and the website, you can set "Units" but the only option is Miles or Kilometers. There are no options for height or weight, which do exist on the watch. This is annoying as I am training in Kilometers for distance and pace right now, but track weight and height in lbs and feet respectively. Setting the "Units" in GC on the phone or website also switches height and weight to metric as well.

Why they are having GC take priority over settings on the watch is beyond me. Settings on the watch are much more convenient. This makes no sense.
