  • Like I said, it's the 935 that looks like it has a bug to me. I have a watchface (not in the store yet) that has the new 1hz code, and for that one, I also use 1hz for HR. Been running it for weeks on a f5 and f5x, and they both run as I expect (update HR every minute or two). I contacted a couple people I know with 935 and asked if they'd try it (latest FW there too), to find out what they see.

In connection to 1hz, I've talked to the garmin folks about how users may expect underlying data to change at 1hz (hr is an example), and it wont. This was at the developer summit last month and a few followup since (steps don't changes as quickly as may be expected either)

If it's a bug on the 935 then they should really introduce that "bug" to the Fenix watches; because for no apparent drawback we get better functionality because this 5X drains it's battery substantially quicker than the 935 does and as I said, the 935 has worked substantially better in pretty much every respect than the 5X has.

I literally bought and use the 5X purely because of how it looks.
  • OK James. I heard back from one of the people I know with a 935 and he tried my 1hz watchface. The HR on his functions just like the f5x (every minute or two). It almost sounds like it might be something specific to your 935 like a HW problem. Have you heard of any others with a 935 see the same thing as you do?

Try the newest FW on the 935, including things like making sure senor Hub, etc are installed and up to date.

Also, had you tried the "harder" reset on the 935? (you shouldn't lose anything. Keep pressing the light button until the watch turns itself off, then turn it back on.)

I like reading Jim and James. :)

Ah btw, Gearmin -> Sunset and Sunrise not working (even after gps bogus activity running).
I did see your post about talking with the IQ DEV of the issue... I tend not to write unless strictly necessary to avoid cluttering... but this delay in solving the IQ issues is starting to become of some concern.
  • Map freeze fixed

Although there is no mention in the changelog as of 3.44 map freeze some of been reporting for a while now is gone. Thank you for fixing this beta team!
Also, running with footpod set as primary source for pace and distance doesn't break vo2max calculations anymore. Thanks for that too (I still need to check lt estimation on a harder session).

    Good job guys!

Right now, I have about 8 of my own watchfaces on the f5x, as well as a couple others (NoFrills and Actiface), and sunrise/sunset is working fine on all of them, if you use the trick of starting a GPS activity, then going to the widget loop and running the WF once in that mode (to get/save the lat/lon for sunrise and sunset). If it's not working with gearmin, looks like it might not be saving off the lat/lon once it gets a valid location, and not a general problem

My understanding it's that is just the way it is right now, and to not expect a "fix" in the near term (it has to do with how the f5x HW works).
  • James - heard back from someone else with the 935, and it's working like I'd expect with my watch face and theirs. Something is weird with your 935 it seems...

It's the widget step that makes it work but, apparently, when I installed all the other faces, while the fields did show (after they were correctly displayed in GearMin) the sunrise-sunset were WAY OFF. Easily updated and fixed but this is strange. Let's hope future FW releases don't force the IQ Devs to do yet more work... it's surely a great thing the guy bought himself a 5X to understand the new mechanics behind the watch faces but the list of custom data fields being built is so short so far, I am sure the problems don't just stop at the watch faces.
  • My map (drawing) issue were caused through used iq data fields and the fw team was able to reproduce this after some testing and the issues seems to be gone with fw 3.44.

Indoor cardio, Indoor Trainer (Bike) ... and the sunrise/sunset is off again as if GPS location had been lost.
    Wow.
