Unwanted watch face settings reset (with all watch faces)

Hi!

I bought a Fenix 5X two weeks ago and I really like it.
In the last few days I noticed that every once in a while, the active watch face settings revert to default. This has happened with different watch faces (I used 3, and the problem happened with all of them).
Wi-Fi sync is enabled, I will try to disable it and see if anything changes. I normally sync the watch with my iPhone, but the problem doesn't seem to be related to this, as it always happened when I wasn't doing anything particular with the watch or phone (once I was sleeping, the other times I was busy at work).

This is very annoying as I have to change the settings every day. Right now I decided to live with the default, until I figure out what the cause of the problem is.

Anybody experienced the same issue? Any ideas?

Thanks!

Stefano
  • My ConnectIQ watch faces have their settings reset to default whenever the watch syncs with my phone. Noticed this yesterday with firmware 3.41.

    Very annoying.

    Watch face problem

Hi. I too have the Fenix 5x and everyday my time changes from 24hr display to a 12hr display which really sucks.
Please update the firmware and fix this issue.

    Thank you.
  • For the "settings reset" and CIQ watchfaces, which settings? Are they the watch face specific ones (maybe custom colors, fields you see, things like that), or more general ones, such as 12/24 hour, statute vs metric, etc.

For the general ones, watch faces generally get that info from the firmware, so it may be the fw info is getting reset. In that case, just make sure those settings are the same on your phone as you want on the watch itself.

For now, you should be able to just set 12/24 the way you want it in Garmin Connect, Garmin Connect Mobile on your phone, and on the watch (set them all to be 24hr)

The settings that reset are the the ones related to the watch face (colors, fields, etc.). I haven't had issues so far with the firmware-wide settings.
    Firmware installed is 3.30.

Which watch face? Are you using GCM for Android, iOS, or Windows Phone? (and which version - 3.xx) Have you contacted the developer?

I'll try to reproduce the problem. I'm on Android 3.18 and the latest beta firmware.

I use GCM on iOS v3.18.0.12.
The problem has not happened with a specific watch face, but at least with 3 different WFs (ActiFace, Chrono style watch, My watch). For this reason I think the problem is in the firmware or sync.
  • Sorry, but I got a couple more questions. With Artifact, what got reset? Colors. fields showing something different?

If it was just losing sunrise/sunset/elevation data, that's a different thing.

When do you see it happen? Just returning to the watch face after recording an activity, after going to a widget and back, right after a sync, etc?

update: Oh, onle last thing. If it's in the state where it looks that the settings for actiface reset, could you simply turn off the watch and then turn it back on and see if the settings come back?

All the custom settings reset. It is like uninstalling the watch face and reinstalling it again: everything goes back to default.
The issue happened without doing anything specific: I was at work and I checked the time, the other time I noticed was in the morning when I woke up. I am not sure if the watch performed an auto sync with wifi/bluetooth and that reverted settings.

Addition: I just performed a sync from the iOS app and the watch face returned to default. It seems that the problem might be connected to the sync process with the phone.
