Grade field showing zero

Is anyone else getting zero in the grade/gradient field during (running) activity most of the time?
Occasionally it does show a value (although I believe mostly while cycling), but mostly it does not.

Garmin support's only recommendation was update firmware (which is already at most recent version 3.30) and to factory reset the device, which I don't exactly feel like doing for something that is not working both on my Fenix 5 Sapphire as well as my girlfriend's Fenix 5S.

Is this a bug being worked on by Garmin to be fixed in a next firmware version?

Thanks,
Joost

VojtoD Are you getting any other elevation data? If not, please take a look at the following troubleshooting steps: Troubleshooting steps for fenix Chronos and fenix 5 altimeter and barometer

If that doesn't work, reach out to us through our Product Support channels (phone, email, or chat) so that we can work with you directly.

relating to no grade data on F5x is that my f5x is set to auto mode (between baro and altimeter) and after the run/cycling I have whole vertical plot. The problem is that when I am running (does not depend on my speed/tempo) it shows "0" grade while showing current elevation. The biggest suprise was when I had both F3 and F5x only f3 showed grade up to 21 but f5x was all the time "0", so what is wrong?

My solution was to install a 3rd party grade datafield via Connect IQ. I chose Elevation Grade by Peter Decker 1.4-udp. This works perfectly.

This has actually been somehow quietly fixed by latest update:
    • Fixed an issue where the grade data field was displaying incorrect data.
I can confirm that today on my hike the grade field was definitely behaving much better (I do have beta 9.53, but 9.20 should probably work too). Though it still seems like it has significant delay. But it was showing some values.
