where to buy Chinese version of Fenix 5S

I am buying a gift and it needs to support Chinese language. It looks like APAC version (not the US ones) does have the memory to support the Chinese language. Does anyone have luck finding it online or in store ? Thanks for any pointers.

• LOL, I just got sent an APAC version from AMAZON. (I live in Chicago and it was sent from their KY fulfilment center) It was a replacement for my faulty original. Did not ask for it, just showed up.

You have to find a friend who lives in Hong Kong or China to buy it and then send it to you like I did. I got the HK Apac version which support traditional Chinese, which helps out a lot when I receive Chinese message from wechat or WhatsApp. Don't buy the normal eBay APAC VERSION. They are not the same as the real Chinese version from HK or China which has Chinese character buildin the firmware.

The one you received from amazon is most likely International Asian APAC VERSION, they only support English and few other Pacific languages and cost around $580-$630 for a sapphire Fenix 5. The Chinese one is very difference it has its own language pack and has an extra BeiDou Chinese GPS chip on top of it to help improve mapping. They cost $100-$130 more than the US model.

I checked all internet, and my friend yesterday in the Garmin Shop in Hongkong, and this here is the only entry and Information about the extra BeiDou Chip. Also the Shop in Hongkong could not answer this question.
I am in China at the moment, does anyone know if the Garmin Fenix 5 has this extra BeiDou chip? I plan to buy it here in China, if there is the improve mapping. (even it cost more than in Switzerland)

I asked also the Support, here the answer from them, and my answer (still waiting for reply). So it is from the Chinese Translation Software clear that the Chinese Version have this BeiDou Chip.
I wonder why the Support don't know about what Garmin Produces.
See attached picture what happened with my Forerunner 920XT when I am running the 500m round in my compound surrounded by skyscrapers. On 15 Dec 2017, at 09:42, Walter wrote:

I am really confused by your answer. As part of Garmin you should know what Garmin is producing.

The Website you gave me is 5X, so I checked myself for the 5.
http://www.garmin.com.cn/products/intosports/fenix5/

And: check this:
????? (GPS/??/GLONASS)

You can use google translate for translation, or ask your Chinese Colleagues.
Anyway, there is the translation.

Multi-Satellite System (GPS / Beidou/GLONASS)

So very clear from this Website (Your Company), that this has the extra Chip.

So PLEASE check with Garmin Production Site about this, and confirm me.

I also already asked in the Forum about this, but NO one answers.

Dear Walter,

I refer to your recent enquiry concerning the above.

As far as i know, and can tell, the Fenix 5 does not come with any extras when purchased in China. full details can be seen here: http://www.garmin.com.cn/products/in...5X/#featureTab.

However i don't read Chinese.

If there is anything else I can help you with then please let me know. Alternatively you can search for a solution here: https://support.garmin.com/en-GB/

Kind regards,

Andrew

I read that if you buy the Garmin Fenix 5 in China, it will have the extra Beidou Chip? Is that correct? Because then I am running here with my Forerunner 920XT, the accuracy in between the high houses is not so good, like one round is 500m, but the watch just give me 460m, and the tracking shows I am running through the houses ...

I'm in Beijing(China)
China APAC version for Beidou chip support as below:

Fenix 5S not support Beidou,
Fenix 5 and Fenix 5X support Beidou
Fenix 5X also support an additional China Map, 5S and 5 not support map.

For Beidou, you can refer to : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BeiDou_Navigation_Satellite_System or http://en.beidou.gov.cn/

if you have any question ,maybe I can check it from you.
The most important is Garmin also have both International version and APAC version for Garmin Fenix 5S/5/5X in china market.

International version can't support Chinese Language and the price is more cheap as global international price , but the APAC version can support Chinese language and cost more money (about 1000+ RMB or 150+ $ dollar ).

in addition, international version using the global firmware , and China APAC version using a special firmware ,so the firmware may have some delay after global firmware release.

Thank you for your help. I bought yesterday the Fenix 5, so it is the APAC Version and have Beidou.

The problem is, you can not choose use "GPS+Beidou+Glonass", only either "GPS+Beidou" or "GPS+Glonass" (or just GPS)

So this morning I was running 10 Rounds, with "GPS+Beidou" ... and it is worse than with the Forerunner 920XT .. see attached pictures. Maybe need to wait to 2020 until Beidou is fully operational?

Tomorrow morning I will test "GPS+Glonass" ...

Anyway I am confused why I can not use "GPS+Beidou+Glonass"ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1286206.jpg

This Morning I tested the 10 Rounds with "GPS+Glonass", which gave a much better Results.
So I wasted money for the Beidou Chip, which is useless at the moment.

Garmin, why you can not let me choose "GPS+Beidou+Glonass" together?

Garmin .. can you not update the software so GPS + Beidou + Glonass can be used together?
• What is the difference between the Chinese Version and normal international version? Can the Chinese Version work properly all over the world?
