Still no training status!

So 3 weeks of running, road biking and mountain biking... and still no training status. Can't figure would what's the deal. I'm coming from decades of Polar and lately Suunto software and watches, so I'm pretty new to Garmin. Watch says to run outdoors with heart rate twice. Yea, did that lol. I've got stuff like VO2 max and training load numbers. At the end of each ride or run I'm getting training effect for aerobic and anaerobic which is cool, but no overall training status.
  • Not the case with the 920 as my VO2max over the last 12 months shows.

i can't speak for the 920 but my point was to answer the OP - the F3/5 does NOT calculate VO2Max when using the trail app. This was a software change sometime last year I think (or older). For me, prior to this, the biggest impact had been snowshoe running which can use up to twice the effort for a slower pace - the First Beat algorithm would still use this activity (as it would seem to be a normal flat run)and assume my Vo2Max was dropping, I was tired etc. Throughout the season, the value would drop15 to 20 points. Having said that, I agree with you on the limited value of VO2Max, especially once it reaches a steady state. I'm in the same age category as you so my battle isn't to increase it, just to fight against the normal age drop! I was also surprised how (once the "trail issue" was fixed), the F3 value of 52 matched the value during a lab test last fall.

I'm so glad I found this thread! After more than 2 weeks of trail runs, ski rando and mtb rides I was starting to think that I had a dodgy unit. I'll use the run setting this weekend on the parkrun and hoepfully start to get some more info. It would have been helpful if this was mentioned by Garmin in the manual!

I have the "no status" after a week off due to a cold but run 5 times since and still no status? What gives? Starting to think these things are lemons and too unreliable, especially given the price. I have tried resetting using the 25 second light button process but no change. Training load is also optimal and vo2max is displayed
  • Your Not Alone, I have been using this for a year. I workout 3 Days a week in the Gym, and Cycle also 3 days a week. Before the last update I was in the status of peaking.. but after the last update (about 2 weeks ago) It shows no training status. Im about to call Garmin (though I can see that has resulted in somewhat misleading info, based on my experience with it).

Attached, you can see that the Training Status Report shows the last data March 3rd.
According to VO2 Calculations it was weekly, and the last few weeks its been missing, No wonder why its showing a Blue on March 3rd, last Vo2 was on Feb 12th. Something goofy going on in the garmin framework.

Same problem as all above. Getting VO2 Max and training load, but no training status. Would have expected to see the Training Status by now.

The same here. 2 weeks of every day road running and still no training status. Did anyone find solution to this?
  • I get status and VO2max from the Fenix 5X Trail Running Activity. I am not getting it from cycling since not using a power meter on road or mtb and neither for paddling SUP. I did find GC needed to display it in the 6 month time frame to generate a graph. I realize there is mention of Trail Running not displaying data but the included activity on my 5X does. Attached is my training status which if I mouse over the data points shows running and neither SUP of cycling. As far as status widget. Mine doesn't display on the first screen but hitting the enter button brings up the vo2max, training level, recovery time and other data.

Not sure why these images won't display full size.:-/

I just started getting this recently too. Out of nowhere I noticed the widget says No Status despite showing a VO2 Max and Training Load status. This combined with the weather app not working and crazy inaccurate treadmill walking accuracy, Im loosing interest in my watch real fast.
  • +1 Training, running and exercising my @ss off but no training status. VO2Max and Training load work fine. Hope there is a solution somewhere.
  • +1 for no training status...

I've optimal training load and vo2 max ... with 47 hours recovery recommend.....but no training status?
This started for me a few weeks ago.
