Phone connecting and disconnecting

Is anybody experiencing random connection/disconnection problems from the phone? At first I thought it was the phone, but I have two phones: an iPhone and an Android. It happens with both; therefore, it is not the phone. For the record, when the watch was brand new, it was only paired with the iPhone 7 and it happened. Then I paired it with the Andriod and it happens as well.

The only other thing that I am suspecting is because I paired the watch with both phones, that the watch might be trying to connect with the phone that is actually turned off and as a result disconnects with the active phone. I never have the two phones on, and if I do, the watch is pretty "smart" - it only connects with one at a time.

Same issues with my Edge 1000.

I have noticed the same with both devices 5x and Edge 1000. Have not ridden since February due to an accident but at that stage it was continuously dropping and reconnecting. Not as bad with the 5x as only seems to happen randomly.
  • Thank you

My GF's 5s and iphone 7 are doing this. It didn't happen with her iphone 5s but once she got a new phone 2 days ago its always dropping and connecting. I plan on calling Garmin monday... side note my 5x says it is linked to my iphone 7 via BT but i can't get smart notifications to work at all.
  • I have iPhone 7 and yes, random BT disconnects and tough to get it to re-pair!

Bluetooth in general; while having quite a good range, is VERY susceptible to being blocked by pretty much anything. It's the same with bluetooth speakers and the like.

A person simply standing between the 2 devices can block the signal; so if you have your phone in a pocket where the signal is having to pass through your body to reach the watch, then it's entirely possible for it to drop the connection.
