Gesture backlight not working on activity

When I have both gesture backlighting set to 'on' for both the watch and during activity, the backlight does in fact show when I lift my arm up etc; when in watch mode and during an activity. However, when I set the backlight to off on watch mode yet still on during activity, the backlight gesture doesn't show at all during an activity.

Settings > System > Backlight > During Activity > Gesture ON
Settings > System > Backlight > Watch Mode > Gesture ON

= Wrist turn backlight comes on with gesture in both activity and in watch mode

Settings > System > Backlight > During Activity > Gesture ON
Settings > System > Backlight > Watch Mode > Gesture OFF

= Wrist turn backlight doesn't come on in either activity or watch mode.

Can check the following:

1) are you version 2.90 or later ?

2) Did you turn on the "Do Not Disturb" ? During the timing you set to sleep, the gesture would not be activated ....

This was brought up in the 935 forum as well. Garmin are aware of this bug and working on a fix.

Hi guys,

Yes I have the latest version, currently 3.00 as it showed this morning I believe. I have do not disturb set to off.

I guess your last post explains this. Look forward to the fix.

Can someone post a link to that thread please? I contacted Garmin support but the person said to do two things.

1. Update to the latest version
- I believe I currently have 3.00 which is the latest version

2. Factory reset the device.
- Obviously I'm not going to do this as I will lose all my interval trainings and field layout settings etc;

I got the impression from the email that they weren't even aware this was an issue? Of course, considering I paid next to £600 for this watch, I expect it to work as it should.

This is "Standard Garmin Support Answer To Any Issue". Therefore, you should always start your ticket with a sentence like: "I am on a newest version and already did factory reset".

I have the Garmin MK Descent and the Gesture back light is not working.
please can someone assist me
