I have the Garmin Fenix 5 since the day it was released and I found something strange with the My heart rate monitor , it seems that my Avg RHR is 40 , and it's not just this week it's since I've got the watch.
How can I know if this is my real one or a problem ?
  • It's pretty common for someone who exercises regularly to have a low RHR - it's a sign of a good fitness level. Mine sits right around that level

Among non-exercisers, a low RHR can indicate cardiac problems.

The Fenix (and Forerunner 935 for that matter) has some significant "low pulse drops" as I would call them. I'm getting periods in the low 40s on the Fenix whereas my Fitbit (and manual measuring) show a pulse between 50 and 60 at the same time. So don't worry, it's not your heart but rather the imperfect measurement. ;)
  • My fenix 5 says mine dips regularly into the 30s, seeing 30 at least weekly. Saw the same with my 235. I have seen 34 with a heart rate strap so I suspect it's not far off.
Truth be told it is not a medical device, it is not looking for a true R-R interval, it just counts what it sees.
