Hi TheIncredibleFlash,
Stryd is ready to go out of the box without calibration. You only need to pair Stryd to the watch and tell it to get speed and distance from Stryd. We recommend leaving the calibration settings as a default 100 value and disabling auto calibration. This tells the watch to take the speed and distance from Stryd without adjusting the values to match GPS or other methods.
You can find more details from fellrnr's website: http://fellrnr.com/wiki/GPS_Accuracy

I second the question... have Stryd dropouts been resolved with 3.30 on the Fenix 5 series? I'd like to purchase Stryd to replace my current Garmin Footpod, not just for the metrics but the enhanced accuracy in pace/distance even on treadmills but not if it is flaking like it did for 2.90 and earlier...This is my question too. I would consider Stryd but am cautious right now for two reasons. Firstly there are reports of ant+ connectivity issues (see sticky thread). I would not want to spend all that money on Stryd unless the connection is rock slde. And secondly, there may be issues with CIQ data fields causing problems with scrolling of the map screen. Having a smooth scrolling map showing a course is of higher importance to me than Stryd data so unless that issue is resolved too, would be wary about getting Stryd.
