Stopping Ant+ Connections

Twice now I have been waiting at a race start and a message appears on my watch asking if I want to add a device. I suspect it is asking to connect someone else's HRM or Footpod or something. I never saw this with the Fenix 3 or other Garmin. I thought you had to initiate the connection.

Anyway to turn this off?
  • I had the same problem!
IMO ANT+ pairing option should only be active on the pairing sensors section.

I usually turn off my sensors to stop the search for longer duration races to save battery. This must mean it is always on looking for an ANT+ devices.
  • I find this annoying too. I have no ideas why the functionality was changed between the f3 and the f5x. At the start of over parkrun I have to dismiss the request to pair multiple foot pods from other people. If I want to pair new accessories, I will go into the menu to request this; I do not want to pair to any old bit of kit within range. At least I get asked though. I have several friends with what I think are 235s which pick up my foot pod and HRM and override their built in wrist based HRMs without them being able to prevent this (although I have not looked myself to see if this can be disabled, but they have not been able to do it so far).

My preference is that a watch should never ask to pair let alone pair automatically unless explicitly asked to do so.

Its probably all worth raising a support ticket with Garmin as this shouldn't happen.

Had the same last weekend and sent a mail to the beta team asking to revert to the fenix 3 behavior.
