Hi there,
if you've been around these forums for any length of time you'd be well aware that the F5 has issues with instant pace due to the GPS.
Personally I've not had these issues with my Fenix 5 and I had never noticed any problems with my F3 either. For both my new watch and my old watch I have always run with the Garmin HRM-Run4 strap to get all the lovely running dynamics information.
In all the posts about pacing issues the most common solution/recommendation given is that people should use a footpod to get the most accurate instant pace data.
But I'm wondering - and I can find no documentation to back me up on this, but wouldn't the HRM-Run4 also be used for instant pace? Could this be why I don't appear to have any pacing issues?
I'm assuming that calculating pace using a footpod is nothing more complicated than a calculation using cadence and stride length - so surely the HRM-Run4 is used in the same manner?
