Poor Bluetooth in Fenix 5 Sapphire version

I and several guys in our forum have one problem.
There are very poor Bluetooth in Sapphire version.
I had Vivoactive HR before and it's worked well in radius of 10 meters. But F5 Sapphire is losing connection even 1-2 meters. It can disconect than you telling by phone in right hand and watch in the left hand.
It's very annoying. Function "Find Phone" is unmeaning in that case.

The sapphire version is not alone in this. While not as extreme as what you describe, the F5 non-sapphire has much more limited BT range than the F3/HR

I've reported same issues to Garmin support, they have asked me to clear data in Android app settings for Garmin connect etc. logout, re-pair with the phone etc. - this worked for 2 days - I didn't have any disconnects if I was within 5 meters from the phone (still very small range in my opinion). Now issue is back, even worse, the watch will only reconnect if I restart the BT on the phone.
So, now Garmin is considering sending me a replacement, where I try to point them to this forum and show that everybody complain...
  • Solved by pairing natively first

I had the same issues, until I remembered that with my F3, I had it paired first with the phone natively, and only then with GCM. Since then, no issues anymore.
  • I have a Fenix 5 Sapphire since end of march and i have no Bluetooth problems. Connection works from one room to other, and > 15m.
    FW 2.9
  • Same problems with mine (F5 sapphire)
My thoughts: Garmin tried to reduce battery usage by reducing transmitting power and by switching off the connections very efficiently if no information exchange is needed. (Maybe same issue with ANT+)

But I'm willing to give up some battery minutes for stable connections.

If you clearly know that the issue is already being discussed in the forum, why are you starting a duplicate thread?
  • No problem with F5 <-> Phone (iOS) but major problem with F5 <-> Stages. Gets "disconnected" after a few seconds (both on ANT+ and BT).

why are you starting a duplicate thread?

Maybe because you know nothing about our forum :)
If poor Bluetooth is software problem, I think it's necessary to give us choice: less battery life or poor bluetooth.
My opinion is Bluetooth must work better. Because "Find Phone" function can't be used now.

When you say "our forum" are you talking about this forum or a different forum?

Either way, this is an unnecessary duplicate thread. The issue is already widely covered.
