Swim activity quirks vs. Fenix 3

A few quirks that I have noticed after a swimming activity that I did not have on the Fenix 3...
First is that the barometer goes mad... storm warning and need to reset barometer afterwards... I can understand why swimming messes up the pressure sensor, but the Fenix 3 did not do this during a swim activity. I guess it was coded to ignore weird changes in pressure when a swim activity was running.

Second is with the Mobile app. I swam for 25 min today and although when I look at the activity under "Swimming" it is registered as 1.2km 25 min... under the "My Day" activities it is registered as an 15 min Move IQ event.

This second quirk has only happened twice in 6 swims... but the first is EVERY time.
I hope that since the Fenix 3 did not have this, that it is a quirk that can be fixed.

Had the same yesterday with Running. Also move IQ on my day, but proper running activity on Activities list

Since update to 3.3 (perhaps coincidentally), now no Intensity Minutes for my last swim. Despite using a tri HRM that accurately logged my heart rate.

Any other swimmers out there that are seeing these bugs?

I can confirm that my swim yesterday was not considered in Intensity Minutes.

Moreover do you have problem with your watch after swimming? My fenix doesn't measure the heart rate anymore. Moreover from time to time the fenix freezes or switches off.

Thankfully no... No post swim issues except having to reset the altimeter to the right level...
Seems you have something unusual going on.
  • I've just complete my first swim and it wasn't added to the intensity minutes. However I do not use a HR monitor in the pool. Does that mean I won't get them counted?

I am not sure that you need HR to get intensity minutes. I had a Fenix 3 without HR and used to get Intensity Minute credits for hikes that I did, even though I was not wearing an HR monitor.
I happened to be using the Tri HRM in the pool, so no excuse there!

It is a bit of a black art this Intensity Minute thing... I do not care as long as it is consistent, so I can set a good baseline to challenge myself to beat... But at the moment it does not seem to be
  • Hmmmm - So as the Fenix disables the OHR in the pool and I don't wear a chest strap, seems like no dice!

Shame and if I swim a lot and really push myself then I get nothing in terms of intensity minutes.

I'm one for chasing stats, but like you said, it would better if it was consistent so I can at least track and push myself.
  • From the online manual

"Your fēnix® 5/5S device calculates intensity minutes by comparing your heart rate data during an activity to your average resting heart rate. If heart rate is turned off, the device calculates moderate intensity minutes by analyzing your steps per minute."
