Bug in ANT+ connection

Since Garmin closed my other thread about this worthless product. I open a new one. For interested buyers: The ANT connection is not working properly. This is a basic function of a sports watch, without that all heart rate related metrics are useless. So please Gamin fixes this issue first instead of adding nice to have functions. For a 699 $ watch I expect that the basics are in place.
  • All my ANT+ devices connect with no problems at all.
If you have a defective watch I suggest you get an exchange or refund.

No problem for me with Fenix 5 and HRM Tri working properly
  • My HRM-TRI and HRM-Run works as they should BUT I'm having serious trouble connecting to my Stages crankarm. I can pair using either ANT+ or BT but it disconnects after a couple of seconds. Works better if i keep my F5 within 10 inch from crank but thats quite inconvenient...

There are issues with ANT+ and many on here have experienced these issues and reported them. I myself am on my second f5 and it behaves in the same way as the first and has dropouts in Running Dynamics data whereas my f3 doesn't suffer with this problem.

Yes, and there is 5 pages thread for it: https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?374423-Problems-with-Ant-connectivity so I don't wonder why Garmin closed your thread. This one should be closed, too.

Did you get any sleep last night thinking about this??
Holly cow!! Relax , enjoy the watch. Lots of great features on it, yeah one may not work as expected, but be assured that Garmin is well aware of the problem and is working on it.

We understand your frustration but complaining the way you are is getting all of us nowhere!! Give it time and let Garmin work on it.
  • This is actually a big problem

This is a pretty expensive watch and ANT+ connectivity is core functionality. The watch is sold with this functionality. We pay for it. I am looking at weeks worth of messed up files. It's anything but fun to be in the middle of an interval and discover that your watch is no longer recording critical data such as power or HR. If this was a cheap device, that would be fine and acceptable. But we are talking about USD600+. The watch is basically useless for serious training at the moment.
What about an update from Garmin? Is it a software or a hardware problem? I have spoken to support twice and never gotten any kind of useful information. It would be perfectly acceptable to wait for a few weeks but there needs to be a specific signal. Every time I call they give me the 'this is completely new to us' speech and they instruct me to do a factory reset.
Also, many people have invested in ANT+ equipment. We want to use it.
Imagine buying a car and the speedometer stops working in the middle of a drive. Would you say: "Don't worry - give us time and just enjoy your car?"

I slept very well last nights, thank you for your concerns. I know because the sleeprecording of the Fenix 5 works fine. This in contrast to the ANT+ connection. :D
