Fēnix 5S/5 – 3.30 Beta Release

Hello Fenix 5S/5 users,

We have new beta software ready for your upcoming adventures! Please read the 'notes' and 'installation instructions' in the 'Updates and Downloads' page found in the links below for your specific device. We look forward to your feedback.

This is only a version bump and is no different than 3.22b. We will leave the 3.22 thread open given how closely related these software versions are. However, we would appreciate you updating and validating for us that nothing has changed. Please be sure to run all updates provided in the download. You'll see new versions for the System Software (3.30) and Sensor Hub (3.20). These are all important updates for best performance.

  • Can anyone confirm that 3.30 production supports Connect IQ 2.3.0 on the Fenix 5, please?

Yes. 2.3.0 support actually started around the 2.95 beta which came out at the same time as the 2.3.0 beta SDk, so developers could test things like 1hz watchfaces and background processes.
  • I'm on beta 3.3 and no way the install the final 3.30
Garmin Express says the latest update is installed.
    doh...
  • Move IQ keeps turning itself off. New Alarm Clock settings delete (but ones made in the past won't).

Force an update with the Garmin WebUpdater program. You'll reinstall the same version, ironically, which is the 3.30 final.

Yes, I know. I have been running that beta since it came out :) But I was afraid of potentially losing CIQ 2.3.0 support in the 3.30 official release, as it isn't mentioned in the release notes.
Anyway my watch auto updated to 3.30 last night, and my watchface still works, so all is well :)

  • Just updated to the 3.30. Hope it helps my issues. Over the weekend went on a couple bike rides and the cadence was way off. Average cadence was in the 1000's which in turn made my calories super high. Was adding 100 calories every few seconds. Has been working fine on my swims and runs though. Going on week two with fenix 5 sapphire and so far little disappointed. You spend $700 on equipment, you expect it to be spot on. Anyone else having cadence issues when cycling?

First 15 minutes the O-HR was completely out. About 30-40 bpm to high. It stayed at a constant level and only fluctuated by 2-5 bpm. After 15 minutes the it woke up and gradually dropped down by 35 bmp and started to respond normally. It seems to get stuck at a higher false rate then suddenly snap out of it. I'll be testing it out again to see if the same pattern emerges.

GPS wise.... surprised, it was bang on most of the time with the only occasional wander off track when the trees got a little thicker or when we stopped / slowed down. Happy with that side of it.... Of course, still room for improvement though :-)

My F5 auto updated to 3.3 (unfortunately) at the weekend.
Broadcast the ohrm to my edge 1000 for two rides today (as I always have while commuting), first time since the update.

For about the first 15 mins it's well off, registering around 70-90 bpm, then corrects itself and shoots up to where it should be, 160 bpm for example.

It used to work very well and gave a good indication of my heart rate, even if it wasn't as accurate as a chest monitor.

    Thanks Garmin!!!!!
