step counter deactivate

Hi everybody,
I have read a few people saying that steps are counted whilst driving etc. and I noticed that the watch (fenix 5 in my case) also keeps counting during watersports activiteis (surfing, SUP) and cycling, sureely Garmin should include an option in the activity set up to 'pause step counting during activity'? Does anyone know if this can be achieved somehow? Coming out of a 2 hour surf session with 7000 steps added doesn't make a lot of sense for my daily activity tracking.
cheers

You can pause/disable step counter via the step counter widget. Go in the widget page and select the step counter, then select the menu option holding the middle button. Now you can disable step counting.

    Thanks!

I didn't know and will do that, still, not sure if someone from Garmin reads this, a feature to switch step counting on or off in the activities would make a lot of sense, could stop counting steps for cycling and swimming etc.
    thanks for the advice!
    cheers
  • I just noticed the same issue today while swimming (laps). I'm pretty sure my 920xt didn't do this
