Does anyone know how to add the Performance Condition data screen ? I get as far as adding a new layout but don't see the option to add Performance Condition ? I have followed the Garmin instructions but can't find it..

Go to the settings for the field you want to set it on and it's under Other Fields>Perform. Cond.

Thank you, I just spoke to Garmin and they said it is only available for RUN and BIKE. It is not available for other activities, not sure why.. I wanted to add it to MTB and JUMPROPE. The Garmin rep is not sure why it can't be added to other activities and will forward this to the technical guy's to look at it.

Performance condition is directly related to your vo2max.
You have two separate vo2max numbers, one for running and one for biking.
Hence, performance condition is only applicable to running and biking.

True, I totally understand that , but as an example, JUMPROPE. I get more physically winded with this than I do running or Biking. So why wouldn't it be able to work for Jumprope, Heavy Sandbag routines and such physical activities since the vo2 max would be off the charts ?
  • Because there are no tables for Jumprope where the watch can look up your VO2max or PerfCon.

I was just answering the question of why performance condition isn't available for other activities... because vo2max isn't.

    I can't tell you why vo2max isn't available for other activities... I don't know how it's calculated.

Perf cond compares your input (HR) with your output. Speed and gradient provide an objective measure of output for running, and power does for cycling. Other sports are harder to measure output objectively and/or haven't been subject to the same scientific validation.

Also, your VO2max for those other activities is actually probably lower, as you haven't logged 100s of hours building muscular efficiency for them as people typically do for cycling and running. That's partly why you find them so exhausting.
