Fenix 5X - Restore data

Hello :)

My 5X has crashed after updating watch face's parameters.
I was obliged to do a factory reset on it.
Is there a way to restore all my "metrics" (steps, goal etc..) data in my watch ? All data seems safe on garmin connect website...

Thank you :)

Can't help with the restoration but for future reference; when I tried a watch face that caused the watch to freeze up, even after rebooting it. I was able to fix it quite easily because I realised that even in it's frozen-during-bootup state the watch was still showing up in the Connect Mobile app, so I was able to simply uninstall the watch face via the mobile app and then restart the watch.

It then booted back up without the dodgy watch face and worked fine with no settings reset.

How do you do a factory reset

I'm not sure; my point was that I was able to fix the crashing watch face issue without needing to do a factory reset.

How do you do a factory reset

Factory Reset: Done through settings>system>restore defaults.
Soft Reset: Hold 'light' until menu appears, got to 'turn off device', press 'start'. Press 'light' to turn the device on again.
Hard Reset: Hold 'light' for 25 seconds. Press 'light' to turn device on again.
  • The answer is "it depends"
If it's data like step goals, intensity minutes etc then that data should be stored in Garmin Connect so it should copy over when you pair the restored device to the garmin app.
There are some bugs though so it might not copy over these settings unless you go into the app and change them to something else then change them back (forcing the app to sync).

Other records like your fastest times/total distance etc can't be restored unless you did a backup first as described in the link below

Things like VO2max, Training Load etc will have to be re-calculated from scratch.
