Entering a course doesn't work

Hello,

last week I was making a run and for the last piece of the track i was entering a saved course on my fenix 5.

so i started the navigation of the course but the watch wanted to guide me to the starting point. As far as i remember on Fenix 3 the watch recognized that I am already ON the course and calculated all the numbers for the rest of the course.

if you have experienced the same behaviour please confirm the difference. then I would raise the topic per email to the beta-team.

For what it's worth I just navigated a course and while at first it did try to send me back to the start (even though I was right on the green line) as soon as I hit the first waypoint it corrected.

So I understand.

But if you prepare a course as I do with just one or two waypoints then it could be some considerable distance until that occurs.

For example, I did a 9 mile hike the other day in which I had added a single waypoint for my lunch stop. Having resumed after lunch, my next waypoint would be the end of the course. The navigation function kept directing to the the beginning and not the end of the course. So all navigation fields (ETA etc) were wrong.

On my next long hike I did not Resume Later on pause for lunch. When I resumed all was well with navigation.

The danger of leaving on pause without resume later is the watch autosaves. But testing this for my F5X I found that this occurs after over 30 minutes and you get a vibration warning with 30 second countdown. This allows you to resume before it autosaves. Then you can pause again.

So until Garmin fix this bug I will not use Resume Later.

Yeah, it's very, very sad, that "resume later" is broken since the F3.

Bugs, I have encountered after "resume later" with the F3 and/or F5 are:
- reboot of watch
- GPS stopped recording
- altitude graph not resuming at current position
- navigation not resuming at all
- navigation resuming at start

For a watch titled "On the Trail", this functionality should be rock solid.

Seems like Garmin has no software QA or incomplete test plans.
