Just bought a Fenix 5s and on a 3 hour car journey racked up over 7000! Steps... is this to be expected?
Hmmm not really... unless you were driving over a 4WD track or you like to swerve in and out of traffic lanes A LOT! haha
You might want to check that your watch is set correctly in terms of which hand it's on - if you set it to dominant hand it is much less sensitive to random movements, but if you are wearing it on your dominant hand and don't have the setting turned on then you'll get a lot of extra steps.

Travelling as a passenger in a van with firm suspension at high speed on motorway. Took a video of it going up while hand placed on leg.
I noticed that my FR735XT accumulates steps when driving at high speed on a bad quality motorway. However on high quality tarmac or when going slowly it accumulates almost no steps.
