GPS and Bluetooth Headphones?

All,

Noticed this a few times on my first 2 runs. I have a pair of Jaybird X2 bluetooth headphones that I know works and have been using without any connection issues when I'm at the gym and I have used it for multiple runs in the past.
I just got the Fenix 5 about 2 weeks ago and have used it for 2 indoor gym and jump rope sessions. No issues. However, I have noticed my bluetooth would cut out when I tried using it for my 2 outdoor runs so far and happens when the GPS is trying to get a location. After it would get a lock, I need to power down my Jaybird and it would work again, but only until I start running and it would get choppy or it would cut off. It got so annoying that I just shut it off and ran without it.

Anyone had this issue?
  • I have this problem with F5s and Galaxy Buds +.  They work fine when not in Walk or Run mode.  When in a GPS using mode, and arm down, music is breaks up, switches between channels and is very unpleasant.  I can hold my wrist up to my face and the music plays fine so it is a distance problem.  Guess I could walk with my watch held next to my head but I look weird enough as it is.

I suspect it is a battery power problem that both apps running together weakens the Bluetooth transmit signal.  Or interference somehow with the Bluetooth signal.  Anyway it is unacceptable for a watch at this price point.  Sounds like from reading it didn’t get fixed in the F6.  My question is did it get fixed for the F7S.  I am considering buying the 7 S but not if this issue hasn’t been fixed.

  • The 5s does not even support music.... So you need to go to the plus forum as you likely have a PLUS model
