Garmin Fenix 5 - custom activity with foot pod data.

Maybe someone can help me. I want to create a custom activity (Tennis) to measure distance on a court without GPS. If I create Custom Activity from scratch I can't get any data from connected foot pod. The only way to have distance is to duplicate treadmill activity, but this have impact on my VO2 max on treadmill and all activities are saved as treadmill :(
How to create custom activity with food pod data?

Are you sure treadmill affects your v02 max? I don't think it does.

    Thank you for your answer.
No, I'm not, but I still don't know how to force my foot pod to measure distance with custom activity :( In fact, VO2 max didn't bother me as much as lack of distance :(
  • If you want to ensure that VO2 Max is not calculated, but that speed and distance from foot pod are registered, then make a copy of the native Trail Run app (running VO2 Max will not calculate in the Trail Run app, only the Run app). Rename the copied app and change the settings to what you desire, but most notably turn the GPS setting in the newly created app to Off. Also ensure in the sensor settings that the foot pod is set to Speed and Distance Always (otherwise the watch might try to use the internal accelerator derived speed and pace if the foot pod is only set to Indoors for either).
  • I wouldn't think a vo2 max would be generated anyway, doesn't it need at least some period of sustained pace. Trail running doesn't generate vo2 max so you could base it on that with gps off too

This is what I did with treadmill, I've duplicated this activity but then all my synced data are showed as treadmill in garmin connect. But why it dosn't work with "other/custom activity". I see that all icons before start are ok (HR, foot pod, GPS Off) but data are not collected. It looks like a bug to me.

Might be worth wrapping your findings up in an email to the beta team [email protected] particularly noting where something doesn't work on the watch (such as pace/distance not displaying whilst in activity or in the activity summary on the watch) and where something doesn't work on the Garmin Connect side (such as activity types not recognised or data recorded on the watch is not displaying in Garmin Connect).
