Pairing with iPad and iPhone

Just a few questions for a new Garmin Fenix 5x owner. Can I pair my f5 with two devices?
I'm having issues pairing with my iPad but my iPhone has no trouble. I have turned off my iPhone while trying to pair with iPad with no luck.

Make sure that your iPad has Bluetooth Smart (BT 4.0).
