Which Activity type to use

Hi all, I'm relatively new to using Garmin watches and in the past have always used the Running activity for all my training. It's only recently occurred to me that this is probably not optimal and is probably skewing some of my stats.

I'm think for general running on a flatish course then use Running. For interval training again use Running. For training such as hill repeats then use something other than Running, maybe Trail Running?

Would be interesting to hear what you guys do.
  • Besides the data field layouts, the big difference between "Running" and "Trail Running" is running calculates performance metrics, like VO2. There's some history behind the decision and someone well versed in that will probably chime in.

    I think you're probably onto the right course with how you're guessing to use the profiles.
