Adding naps

Hi, I'm just wondering if it's possible to either put fenix 5 into sleep mode or just add naps manually in Connect or wherever. I can't find any option to do so; although there is "Sleep + Nap" I don't know how to edit naps.

Thanks in advance.
  • Edit or enter naps manually isn't possible. The Watch calculates nap automaticly if u had defined your default bed time... this never worked on any of my garmin watches - little web research provides information this works only at vivosmart hr...

me and many others complained this at garmin support to get in minimum the possibility to edit naps in GC manually - til now no response from garmin... :(
  • I newer saw or heard of it on the va-hr (I had one since it came out), but the original vivoactive had manual sleep, as did the Fenix 3. They removed it from the f3, but put it back, as been had been used often by some. Those are the only watches I know of that had a "manual sleep", so you can do naps.

Sleep is actually done by the server when the data is uploaded, using your default sleeps times as a base. That's also why you don't see your sleep data on the watch itself.

Thanks for answers. Yeah I created this thread without proper search on this forum. Did it after; found many threads with same question and after reading them I lost all hopes. :\ I would expect after paying 700 eur to get simple things like that (especially since cheaper watches like Vivoactive have it), but ok.. so far this is my only complaint about the watch.
  • Naps outside of set sleep time

I have recently converted to a Garmin Fenix 5 having previously had 2 Jawbone UP3 (build quality rubbish) and a Fitbit Charge HR. I was initially really impressed that the Fenix 5 reported sleep to the detail that the Jawbone did (deep vs light) which is much better than the Fitbit (sleep/awake). However, I now find that the Garmin only records sleep during the times you set as Do Not Disturb! I track my sleep as I am so bad at it. As a consequence of poor overnight sleep, a parkrun, lots of work in the garden and a Sunday roast lunch I fell asleep on the sofa but that does not count and I cannot enter it manually as a guesstimate. Come on Garmin, people fall asleep outside of their normal schedule surely the software can cope with that?

    Otherwise the device rocks.

Did you try that over the day and it worked? Because I tried DND mode and took a "test nap" and it didn't record anything.

Another note here; it recorded 2 hour shorter sleep today, but when I manually corrected waking time it nicely updated with those 2 more hours of light+deep sleep and it was way out of my set wake time (4 hours). So I'm even more baffled why can't you just add additional intervals over the day.

How to request new SW feature / manual sleep

I newer saw or heard of it on the va-hr (I had one since it came out), but the original vivoactive had manual sleep, as did the Fenix 3. Hello, anybody aware on how to request/influence new SW features at Garmin for Fenix 5? I really would like they add manual sleep capability just like in the Fenix 3.

You can submit feature requests to Garmin here: http://www8.garmin.com/contactUs/ideas/. Whether or not they do anything with it is up to them though. I agree that manual sleep should be added. I'm still using my F3 but will probably upgrade to the 5 sometime this year and I prefer to use manual sleep vs the automatic detection since the results are usually better for me that way.
  • Has anyone tried setting their sleep settings to all day, like a 3 pm bed time and a 2:59 pm wake time?
