Note: Please allow for the updates to propagate across all servers. There is no need to post that the link does not work. It will after a bit of patience. :)

2.96 Change Log Notes:
  • Added support for a new app, 'Boating'.
  • Improved the responsiveness of steps auto-goal.
  • Improved the power controls menu and introduced a ‘disabled’ state for connected features like Find My Phone, Music Controls etc. These applications will no longer disappear from the power controls menu, when the user has lost connection to the Garmin Connect Mobile App.
  • Improved the lap times accuracy reported by the Stopwatch.
  • Fixed a potential issue, where ‘Music Controls’ would intermittently lose connection with the smartphone.
  • Fixed an issue, where the device could crash when attempting navigation to a nearby location with all GPS enabled profiles disabled.
  • Fixed an issue, where the watch would incorrectly report that GPS signal was lost, while using UltraTrac.

  • ANT+ & Bluetooth connectivity

Zero improvement in regards to ANT+ & Bluetooth connectivity. Did two rides with my PT1 pedals - massive drop-outs. Short ride with a Stages: useless data - one giant drop-out with occasional power recordings. Run with Stryd: 10 drop-outs on a 4.5 mile run.

Not cool - the F5 is practically useless at this point.
  • Same here. I'm running beta 2.96 on fenix 5x.

I logged out of the Connect app and back in yesterday and everything is back to normal.

I will confirm that this worked, but there is definitely bluetooth connection problems with the f5 line. I had a hard time re-pairing the watch to my phone (galaxy s8). I was having similar problems with my 5X with my prior phone (galaxy s7 edge). Beta team has told me that they are having problems with android 7.0 phones (both of the phones were running 7.0), but this problem is definitely isolated to the 5 line. Both my F3HR and vivoactive hr had little to no BT connection issues (beyond standard ones).
  • I am still experiencing a weak BT connection between my F5 and iPhone 6s (latest OS).

Previously, wearing my F3 HR, I could roam throughout the house - with the same phone left on the kitchen counter - and it would maintain the connection. Even coming back to my parked car with the iPhone inside, my F3 typically re-connected from some 150-200 ft away. No such luck with the F5. Often I have to have both devices right next to each other so they reconnect. Any distance over 15 feet is hit or miss. This has been the case with 2.96, but also with earlier f/w versions.
I briefly had a F5 Sapphire which constantly disconnected/connected. The F5 does not exhibit this though. I have tried re-pairing already a few times including re-installation of the iOS app but not joy.

I am hoping this can be fixed with a f/w update and that this is coming soon.

Same for me Samsung S7 Edge and Fenix 5 constantly disconnected/connected , with my Fenix 3 HR no problem
    i hope a f/W update rapidly
  • Ever since going to the 2.9 beta, calories during cycling are off. A 2.5 hr ride showed 4500 kcal.

    also 2.96 beta

one hour indoor ride 12553 kcal

I'm not seeing this from the Wattbike element of my gym session this evening https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1710957322 and the active calories in GC for the day are correct for this activity plus the 5km indoor row and 10,500 steps for the day so far. Are you guys using WHR or chest strap and what other sensors (speed, cadence, power, etc.)? (my HR in the activity linked was from my HRM Run chest strap)
  • Hmmm. Lots of input factors there, so would be hard to nail what might be causing the erroneous calorie computation. I would have thought any speed or power signal drops would lead to lower calorie count (assuming the Fenix 5 uses power to enhance the calorie calcs). So I don't think there's anything simple I can do to try and replicate the issue your seeing; except perhaps switching to WHR, which I'll try out when I next get the opportunity.

I still hava 2977 stairs flights and 13040 calories burnt :-)
  • Looking forward to contributing here... my F5 arrives on 20 May :D
  • stress test ETA?

Perhaps I missed it in a previous/-nother thread, but have Garmin announced when the quick, wrist-based stress test will be coming to the F5? thanks~
