Please send all bug reports to [email protected], and indicate which model of the fēnix 5 series you have in the subject line.

Note: Please allow for the updates to propagate across all servers. There is no need to post that the link does not work. It will after a bit of patience. :)

2.96 Change Log Notes:
• Added support for a new app, 'Boating'.
• Improved the responsiveness of steps auto-goal.
• Improved the power controls menu and introduced a ‘disabled’ state for connected features like Find My Phone, Music Controls etc. These applications will no longer disappear from the power controls menu, when the user has lost connection to the Garmin Connect Mobile App.
• Improved the lap times accuracy reported by the Stopwatch.
• Fixed a potential issue, where ‘Music Controls’ would intermittently lose connection with the smartphone.
• Fixed an issue, where the device could crash when attempting navigation to a nearby location with all GPS enabled profiles disabled.
• Fixed an issue, where the watch would incorrectly report that GPS signal was lost, while using UltraTrac.

Interesting wasn't mentioned in the release notes so either a restart fixed the problem or Garmin fixed stuff and didn't mention it. Wonder which it is.

What version did you upgrade from?

I upgraded from Beta 2.95. Included in Beta 2.96 is a new sensor software (BLE/ANT/SNS 2.90).

@odsweng

Any chance we could get a comment on whether the issues with watch faces not displaying HR (while they do show the HR on the watch face selection screen, which is odd) and having issues with location data for sunrise/sunset etc are being actively worked on or if there is an ETA on it being fixed?

Several official firmware updates and several beta firmware updates since release and this issue still isn't fixed; which makes me worry that this is an actual hardware issue and we should perhaps consider returning the units while we can.
• I get heart rate on a ConnectIQ watch face..... it may be whoever coded the watchface that screwed it up.

It's not though, thats the issue.

It's happening with all watch faces that try to display HR (and some other) data.

They ALL work fine on Fenix 5, Fenix 5s, Forerunner 935. It's only the Fenix 5X that they don't work on.

Apparently it was mentioned by a Dev at the developer conference thing they did recently so it's a known issue; but for me its very worrying that something like this, which is a problem isolated just to this model of watch, has not been fixed by now.

Even Garmin made watch faces like this one:
https://apps.garmin.com/en-GB/apps/0e050e47-886d-49bb-babd-043fd26e23a3

Which as you can see from the example images is supposed to display HR.... doesn't. They have even removed the options for it from the settings.

Also worrying is that these watch faces do work for a small number of F5X owners, but it seems to be the minority.
• Its actually not all watchfaces that this happens on my 5X. The NoFrills watchface displays Hr data fine. If its a hardware issue why would this be?

It's probably not but if you scan the places where people are posting about the issues (watch face reviews, facebook, here on the forum), the watch faces that are generally not working will be working for the odd few people.

Why would they work for some and not others on the same watch?

I'll grab the NoFrills face myself now and try it; but I wouldn't put my money on it working on my watch...
