Which is a better running sequence ?

Hi there,

Can I know from experts here, is it better to:

1) jog slow and complete 5 continuos 400m rounds (each 400m jog is around 3:30)

OR

2) jog faster and complete 3 continuos 400m rounds (each 400m jog is around 3 mins) ?

Thanks
  • Different workouts bring different benefits, and it is often better to think of an overall weekly program than a single "best" type of run.

Many experienced runners will do different types of runs over different days eg. an high intensity interval run, a fast tempo run, and long slow run.

But to answer your question, lifting the intensity higher typically brings better results than just adding more repeats.
  • I would prefer slow jogs between higher intensity intervals, just for recovery.

Depends on your weekly plan, as previously stated.
Take a look on Garmin's connect site, some training plans are provided (just to give you an idea).

If it takes you 3'30" to complete 400m it means your endurance is low and you need to work on that first i.e. gradually run more and longer.
It's best to do this in a structured way, if you google "couch to 5K" some helpful plans should pop up.
