Third party Watch Faces working?

I've tried several watch faces from the IQ store that display a lot of data including realtime HR; but so far none of them have worked correctly.

HR shows as N/A or a fixed number that doesn't change and faces which display HR graphs show no data.

Changing settings on the watch faces seems to save sometimes, save and then later revert back or just just plain not save.

Some faces install and let me select them on the watch, but then it reverts to display a standard Garmin face.

All of the faces I have tried have worked perfectly on my FR 935.

Is this a known issue or have I landed a faulty unit?

I can shed some light on why we're seeing difference since the new firmware and why we may also be seeing differences in what works and what doesn't via a reply I just got from Brandon after asking him if there was any news about the problem.

"Some fixes have been put into place in the 3.30 firmware release to address the CIQ watch face issues, but there have been some additional, related reports that have come through since 3.30 so we've apparently not quite gotten everything addressed. I just talked with the team working on these problems, and I expect we'll have things patched up by the end of May (if not before). "

So clearly there were indeed changes made that didn't make the patch notes in relation to the watch face issues but seems there are still things needing work.

    odd

....the reality here is that there are 100's of watchfaces for the 5x, and only 2 or 3 that seem to be having a problem. If it is a garmin problem, it sure sounds to me like it's something about those 2-3. (I've tested 10 different ones myself and not seen the problems others are seeing with GearMin or HandsFive)

Odd then that I've personally tested over 20 CIQ watch faces and ALL exhibit the same issues with HR, altitude, sunrise and sunset as the "two or three" you mention.
It's one thing being able to use an impractical workaround to display Sunrise/sunset etc, and a completely different thing when Garmin themselves are telling us they are a) aware of the issue, b) aware of why it occurs and c) that they have several possible solutions and will implement whichever they deem to be best asap.

Given the circumstances, why not simply be patient?

    Hi all,

Has these issues been resolved? I noticed that these postings were from early 2017 and wondering whether there is an update or steps to be taken to resolve these issues.

I just got my Fenix 5X in January 2018 and seems to have issues with Third Party watchfaces. The light button gives out two beep sounds instead of one eventhough I only press the button once. Other buttons are fine. And Garmin original Watchfaces are fine too.

Personally it's very rare I come accross a watch face that does not work properly. I've had my 5X since late July. I use GearMin, HandsFive and EuroPilot the most.
  • I have an f5x, and also have a number of watchfaces for the f5x in the store. I've not had problems, nor have users contacted me about problems in quite some time.

As far as what you are seeing, what FW is on the watch? (look under "about" on the watch). With a new watch, the FW could be a bit behind unless you've gotten the latest and it's installed.

Also, for odd things (like a double beep), just doing a full boot of the watch will often resolve that. Press the light button for 15-20 seconds until the watch turns itself off and then turn it back on.
