Problems with Ant+ connectivity

Does anybody NOT have problems with third party ANT+ devices and the F5? My experience is as follows:
- Stryd: not usable; tons of drop-outs on runs. Most importantly long pauses of 30-60s with zero values
- Powertap P1 pedals: around 10-20 drop-outs on a 50 mile ride; most of these drops are really short
- Stages: Useless - zero connectivity - tried Bluetooth and ANT+

Wondering if the F5 is just flawed (weak antennas?) or if I got a bad model. Spoke to Garmin support two weeks ago and they asked me to wait for further software updates.

Are there people out there that do not have these kind of problems?

Would love to swap it for a 935

garmin won’t budge and will only swap like for like

wish I knew how people persuaded them to swap for other models ????

well, new watch arrived and so far so good

connections are made much quicker and not one dropout from Stryd in 10 miles

My Tacx trainer connected easily and a quick test shows it holds connection well

too early to be 100% confident but looking good

for reference the serial no is much higher than my old watch - 5361113xxx

Is this the new serial or old serial? My Fenix 5 is a year old and serial number is bigger than this. It is this: 53A02XXX

What about the bluetooth connection with mobile? Do you see more range?

    Thanks!

It certainly seems better, I haven't measured it but in the past it would lose connection while I ran (with the phone in a SPI belt on my back) now it holds connection OK

I've just done another 7 mile run and got a perfect power graph from Stryd

another 7 miles run tonight and another perfect power graph!

Talked to Customer service in Spain this week (they've call me).

This is not serious. They told me that ANT+ connectivity problems are because we use non-garmin sensors and the bluetooth connectivity is because we don't use stock android.

Really? i think they are kidding me.

They mean we must use only garmin sensors (maybe stryd is using ant+ protocols bad) and mobile phones with stock android only. I said that my fenix 3 hr used to work better and they say that this is because GC app is more complex and now my phone doesn't support it well (xiaomi mi5, so powerful). they always have a way to argue any problem you suffer is because you don't use it right. Always!

I'm sooooo angry with this, so they opened a ticket with this and "will see if there is a problem". If they don't solve this i will denounce them. I will re-use mi fenix 3 hr to prove this and demonstrate they are selling defective products.

Just to round off my experience,

I've now run 48 miles since getting the new watch (including a half marathon) and haven't had a single drop out

I'm now convinced this is the revised model

if anyone else has ANT+ issues I'd suggest getting back in touch with Garmin and get your watch swapped

There are less issues when running, mine also has no issue while running but if you do other sports or raise you hands above your head or whenever the body gets in the way, for example at the back, hrm tri disconnects. My old fenix 3 was fine in these situations. If you had Fenix 3 you can also realize that the bluetooth range was much better, it was working even between floors, now it is dropping in a few meters.
