Sync Failed - Server Error

My f5 and/or GCM are being a total PITA today.

I charged my f5 today, and since then it's just refused to sync with Garmin Connect Mobile. I get a "failed to sync" red banner on the bottom of the app and there's a red circle with an exclamation mark next to it in Settings>Devices. If I try to sync it from there, I just get "Sync Failed - Server Error"

I've tried turning the f5 off and back on again, removing it from GCM and re-adding it (which took several attempts as it kept saying it couldn't connect to the Garmin servers), deleting GCM from my iPhone and re-installing it, even updating my f5 to the new beta, but still it refuses to sync.

The odd thing is GCM does seem to know how many steps I've done, so some of the sync must be taking place, but then it just fails and stuff like HR isn't showing in GCM.

I know the last resort is to do a hard reset, but now I've finally got to the stage where my VO2 maxes and Training Status data is beginning to come together, I REALLY don't want to have to go back to Day 1.

Any ideas?

Thank you Garmin, it look to work again! I can choice the device now and see the fenix 5 settings on connect web page. I try it only with a browser, later i will resync the fenix 5 with this old account and see what's happen. So i must only export, import two works out and hope, all is fine again., except Vo2max, maybe from a file. I backup the full garmin folder before I hardreset the clock. Mhh.., Google is my friend.

Hi Steph, maybe data corruption from Garmin Express? I use a Mac too. I noticed the sync trouble later on my iPhone. ( 10.3.3 ios, fenix 8.4 Firmware, no beta connect App).

I reported the issue to garmin yesterday over the phone, the tech logged into my account and confirm there was a issue, he added my account to the list of affected users and told to await and email when resolve - no email yet!

Manage to sync by removing the the user settings of heart rate zone etc it was trying to download to the watch.

Mine not... Even more no reply from Garmin... I'll stay with a new created account. I've asked also about deleting the old one but no action from Garmin so far...

The reply I had from garmin after registering the no sync issue, my issue was resolved last week but I received the mail yesterday

The rot has spread to Australia. Sync worked yesterday morning.
?????on Pc, Garvin express, can't connect to server.
on 935 sync to phone, transfer failed.
come on Garmin this is unacceptable on a high end product .

Late to the party, but I've had the issue for months. The fix: once phone and garmin are paired, on the garmin, go to the activity and force upload. Go to Rides, then Last Ride. Below Summary, Map, Elevation and Laps tab are icons for Go Back, Upload, Course Name and Delete. Hit the up arrow icon to upload to the Garmin Connect mobile app.
