Bug with HR not showing up all the time on the active watch face not resolved with this update. Works intermittently and can't figure out a reason it shows or doesn't show.

When it doesn't show it seems to return 255 if the watchface displays the value without any error checking. Some watchfaces take the HR display out completely like they're written with a check to get HR data and if they fail then assume there is no HR sensor. Other watch faces will display a HR --.

Custom watchface just to display HR data shows a 255.

The correct HR data does show up on those faces in the watchface selection screens but after you make them the active face they null out. HR widget also shows all the data so it's not a sensor just not working occasionally.

Sometimes just changing between watchfaces at random and it will just start working again. Other times you just wait, upwards of hour+ and it'll just start working again. Currently it's been about 20 minutes since I updated to the beta and the watchface is still displaying a -- instead of a HR value. The HR widget is showing 20 minutes of HR data.

When it's working it seems to get data updates very slowly compared to the F3HR with the watchface lagging a couple of minutes or longer behind the actual HR data shown on the widget.

THe settings sync is still broken. Setting something on the watch without setting it in Connect will have Connect reset it. i.e. settings made on the watch are not honored, if it's set in connect or GE then it gets reset on the watch on the next sync.

Easy test - On the watch set the buttons to vibrate on push. Sync and the buttons will be silent again assuming it was set to silent in Connect.

Set the buttons to vibrate in Connect. Sync and confirm the buttons vibrate. On the watch turn off button vibrate. Sync and confirm the buttons are now vibrating again.

I haven't tested it but multiple reports of alarms being lost are almost certainly attributable to this issue.

Kind of makes the ability to change settings on the watch moot right now since if the value is set in mobile or pc those will win out. As long as you're aware of the issue it's not a showstopper, just a major annoyance, you just have to make your setting changes on your phone/PC.

As I reported in this thread, it's worth checking if something has changed in the file structure for the swimming pool logs since a website that always worked with the F3 files now no longer works for the F5x swimming files.

Disappointed about lack of autoscroll in pool swimming for this patch, nevertheless that fix for the rename of courses was a problem I had noticed on the fly and it's an important fix.

EDIT: The initial download link to the Garmin page is still pointing at the .72b
EDIT2: The swimming log is ok. Prob solved, it's not the watch.
  • No problems here

    Also not working for me.

Got the F5X today (also own a FR935) and so far all of the watch faces that I have used on the FR935 have failed to work correctly on the F5X (both with the current non-beta firmware and the beta firmware).

HR either shows N/A or a fixed number that never updates. HR graphs show no data and sometimes odd error messages.

Also; changes to the watch face settings don't always save, and when they do save they tend to just revert back after a while.

All in all, not a good experience for my first few hours of using the new watch; compared to the FR935 which has been flawless.

"Old" watchfaces may not work properly with F5 probably due to CIQ differences.
Try a watchface that is designed (and compiled with CIQ v2.x) specific for F5

The image you posted shows exactly one of the the watch faces that doesn't work on my F5X unit...

All the others I have tried are supposed to be compatible with the F5X and in some cases can be seen working on peoples F5X's on youtube and in images; but then if you read the comments on those watch faces you will see some people reporting them not working.

Just like that face you have in the image is working for you, but refuses to work on my own watch.

There is a new version of this watchface released yesterday. Make sure that you have it.

Pretty sure I said I got the watch TODAY; going back in time to before yesterday to download the wrong version would have been a challenge.

  • I keep loosing my alarm settings. I set a new alarm and then when I go back there, there are no alarms listed and I only see "add alarm"
