2 watches, both open boxes :( should I get mineral glass?

I picked up a fenix 5 from Cotsworld in London. I was disappointed when I got home and saw that the watch had clearly been opened before. Fingerprints on the screen, charging cable not in wrapper, film removed from screen before. Also a lot of 'dust' in the box! So I returned it.

Ordered one from snow and rock (same company?) which was delivered in a Cotsworld box. Similar thing! Clearly the watch had been opened/handled.

None of them were sealed in anyway.

Anyone else have this?

I am now thinking of getting the non-sapphire version which I can pick-up from wiggle for £415 (with my platinum discount). My main question is, going from a sapphire fenix 3, how robust is the mineral glass? I take excellent care of my gadgets and do not anticipate the glass coming into contact with anything sharp/rough. Will I notice a significant difference between them?

Boxes aren't sealed.

Not that this changes the fingerprints issues etc. but the Fenix 5 boxes are not "sealed" in anyway. There is no tape or sticker that seals the box shut I agree that this seems odd, but the one I ordered came that way as well as the ones people have reviewed and unboxed and the ones I have seen in store.

With regards to the mineral glass, although it is slightly less scratch resistant than sapphire, it is actually better when it comes to being shatterproof.

I use that on my sapphire 5x and i cant even tell that it has protector on it. And i think that you are more likely going to scratch the bezel than the screen.

Yeah, the boxes aren't sealed...

I must say I sent mine back as well (everything as new except the screen foil, impossible to reapply that without any sign of usage and scratches way too easy).

I would say only go for the mineral one if you want wifi (and did it include an extra band?), otherwise just apply a screenportector. Really liked the brotect one myself.

I was just ready to order the mineral glass one from Wiggle. Wifi doesn't bother me too much.

Then I realised that the mineral glass fenix 5 is "slate grey" and the sapphire one is "black".

I would really prefer the black one tbh. Are there any pictures comparing the two? I cannot seem to find any...

It seems many people returning used F5. I was wondering if Garmin receives returned products from retailers and resell them as refurbished or retailers cannot return to Garmin.

I hope clever training sells only totally new one.
