Conversation with Garmin re GPS issues

I called Garmin UK tech support today to see if they are aware of any GPS issues. I explained that I had a F5X that I really liked but decided not to keep due to it performing much worse than my FR935.

As expected, the tech rep said that they are not aware of any GPS problems with the Fenix 5 series and that they have not seen any evidence to the contrary.
On being asked whether they ever look at their own forums for evidence, I got told that they had not been made aware of any problems by the community managers as of yet.

I understand that Garmin wouldn't admit to an issue existing with their flagship line of watches at this stage but it seems that the company is, yet again, blissfully unaware of any issues surrounding the Fenix 5 series...

I emailed them (I'm also from the UK) and mentioned some GPS issues. It resulted in me calling them useless "cu next tuesdays", and I asked to speak to someone who wasn't a useless "cu next tuesday". If they don't remember the abusive email, then they're as forgetful as they are useless. FWIW, I don't encourage that sort of email usually but the dishonesty of this company can be quite aggravating at times.

Have you tried speaking with [email protected]? These guys give a completely different response and although they haven't solved the problems for me yet, I do believe they listen and want to solve the problems. I've been sending them error logs and whatnot, and I'm doing my best to help them help us.

They completely refused to acknowledge that the Fenix 3 had anything wrong with it's GPS; so it's hardly surprising that they are doing the same with the F5.

They may simply consider them all to be working as intended.

I know they'd never do this, but I'd love for them to offer more transparency. In particular it would be helpful for them to say what they consider to be "working as intended." For example, maybe they have different definitions of what they consider to be acceptable pace charts for the fenix 5 and the 935. If so, tell consumers that so they can make an educated decision.

Of course, they'd never do this because there's a whole bunch of people who buy devices and are perfectly happy with them and never go to the forums. Many buy something like the fenix 5 because they assume its the top of the line and best at everything. However, if all of the sudden Garmin published data that showed that the 935 was significantly more accurate than the fenix 5, many of those same people would suddenly buy the 935 because that would appear to be the best at everything, even if they never would have noticed/cared about the difference in accuracy otherwise.
