Fénix 5x screen flickering

Is there anyone who has this little flicker on the screen? Is seen with any type of light (sunlight or indoor) and with the backlight off on the clock. it's a small flickering, but the screen of my fenix3 is completely fix compared with the screen of the fenix 5x

..and what are you going to do with it now. another replacement.. I am in the very same situation , and starting to be tired of fenix 5x.

It looks like there are so many defective units out there that you are lucky if you find one that works properly...
Personally i will wait for for the next FW update, for the slight chance that this gets resolved through software and then i will just send it back for replacement.
This issue is not just annoying to the eyes but will also drop the resale value of the device significantly.
  • Before I read this post I haven’t notice anything on my 5X which I have from day one. In order to see the so called flickering you have to look the watch with the light off and from a very specific angle which you don’t normally look and even then is barely visible. If you look straight on which is the normal way its perfect so what is the problem. I believe there are much bigger problems in life than a barely visible flickering. Enjoy your watch and have fun with it as it is.

I don't know how visible the flickering is on your device but on mine it is visible at any angle and with any of the bright colors.
I respect that it doesn't bother you, but you can't expect for everyone to feel the same.
I can understand software issues and bugs, but for these kind of hardware defects, I can't just look away, especially for a device that costs so ridiculously much.

Same here. I returned mine, got the refund and I'm waiting for a new one, the stocks are pretty low at the moment. I could see mine flickering at any angle, outdoors and indoors, it is true that the flickering was more intense when viewed from a side, that is from the one with the light button, but the flicker was visible even when looking straight at the watch. Serial no 54xx. I'm still not convinced there's not an issue with the barometer too, there's another thread on that too.

Just a quick experience sharing guys. So i had the flickering issue on my Watch too , not really annoying but present anyway and also a random accelerometer issue.
The Watch was not counting anything randomly, no movements, swolf, number of lengths, nothing except a basic chrono. Due to this, i called Garmin France to obtain an exchange 2 weeks ago.
I sent my Watch back and it was received by Garmin last tuesday 02.05.
Today, i had the confirmation that my Watch will be exchanged but that they are currently out of stock, even for repairs !
I called them back a few minutes ago and was told that the exchange could take up to 4 weeks from now !!! If confirmed it will be a real nightmare. I sold my Fenix 3, which was working like a charm, sent back my 750€ new toy, after only one month of use and now i only have my eyes to cry with a lot of open water swimming , races and triathlon events planned for the next 2 month. Not sure what to do as the last guy i spoke with was not really helpful or comprehensive :(

    Well this sucks. :/
I learned my lesson during my expirience with Garmin watches the last 3.5 years (had to replace two of them), so i kept my old VAHR and i will use it when i sent back my F5.
Dont get me wrong, garmin makes amazing devices, best in the market, but quality control is just not their thing.
  • There is a new beta (3.30) with new display software 2.20 included. Hopefully we are lucky and the flickering can be fixed with software. I already have an RMA number to deliver the watch to the technical service, but I will wait to test the official version of the new software
