Fénix 5x screen flickering

Is there anyone who has this little flicker on the screen? Is seen with any type of light (sunlight or indoor) and with the backlight off on the clock. it's a small flickering, but the screen of my fenix3 is completely fix compared with the screen of the fenix 5x

to be honest I think it has got something to do with the hardware...otherwise everyone would experience this.. and most of the people just don't notice it . I sent back my unit to garmin.. Let's wait what they say. I guess some of us are not lucky owners :(....3 months waiting.....for nothing ...ehhhh
  • Answer from Garmin support:

Perform a hard reset following this steps:
1-Turn off the watch pressing light button
    2-Turn on the watch pressing simultaneously light + start/stop + back/lap
3-When you hear one beep, release start/stop button
4-When you hear second beeb, release back/lap button
5-Enter the requested data in the watch
6-Update the watch software, connecting the watch to the last version of Garmin express in the computer
7-Check the operation of the unit with normal use

Well, this don't work for me. I still have the flickering
If somebody have best luck, please let me know
  • Hello,

I have the same problem with flickering screen. Hard reset method don't work for me too.
  • The hard reset did not work for me either. This would seem to be a hardware problem. My guess is that all 5x's are suffering from the flickering screen, but most people are not noticing it. If you are using a black background for your watchface, I don't think you would ever notice the flickering. It would be nice to see a response from Garmin that at least acknowledges the issue and let's us know whether it can be fixed by a software update.

Anyone know if with beta 2.95 the flicker of the screen is fixed or is less?
Two days ago I sent an email to Garmin technical support and I still do not have an answer

Neither updating to beta 2.95, nor performing a factory reset seem to fix the flicker.
I do see it too on a white background, although it is rather subtle.

I have replicated your screen and on my Fenix I cannot see any flickering. I would suggested you return it for a replacement.
  • Questions For All Those Seeing the Flicker

Do you see the flicker indoors only? Or both indoors and outdoors?

If you see the flicker indoors, is your mains voltage 50 Hz or 60 Hz?

My hypothesis is that the flicker is an artifact of artificial indoor lighting causing an optical effect due to the rate at which indoor light flickers being close to the refresh rate of the watch - resulting in an apparent flicker on the watch face.

    TIA

I have thought it too, but i can see it outside too
  • Today i have seen a friend of mine Fenix 5X and it hasn't screen flickering issue! Serial number are more newer than mine (xxx43... vs xxx23...) and screen is a little more bright. So, i think this is an hardware issue!
