5x user wondering if you 5 & 5s people have any sync cable stability issues?

Since the 2.9 update, a lot of us have had USB cable stability issues when plugged into GC & GE.
The watch will repeatedly connect and disconnect like its "flickering". Strangely enough this seems mainly a laptop/Windows 10 combo issue.
Some of us have had our cables replaced and some have had better luck with desktops or other OS.

Just curious if you guys and gals have seen any changes in USB connection since the 2.9 update with your reg 5 versions. Thanks!
  • Out of habit I backup my whole Fenix 5 \Garmin folder every few days via USB and never had an issue with it so far. (using either my laptop or desktop, both with Windows 10)
  • In think I may use USB more than many, as that's how I sideload CIQ apps I'm developing to test (probably 5 times so far today for example).

    Not had an issue with any version of the FW on an f5 (I use win10)

    Has anyone having the problem contacted Garmin Support?

    Just synced on my Mac to Garmin Connect with my F5 running 2.9. Synced very fast and has been charging for the past few hours with no apparent problems.

    Yes, several of us have so there are multiple support tickets out there, which is why the response has been varied as to what the actual solution is. Some of us have gotten new cables sent, one guy got a new 5x sent, and others have been told to try 3.0 vs 2.0 ports or use different computers. But so far no hint of perhaps it could be a firmware issue via Garmin, which is why I was curious if you all saw anything similar.

    My watch was fine with 2.4 but I also was lucky enough to have mine week of release for preorder shipping. I think a lot of the users lately, who had to wait longer, have 2.9 installed right off the bat when they plug their watch in for the first time, so it seems like it's something else like physical issues.
    But I know mine WASNT. But it doesn't stay connected now. So it's either GC, GE, or the update. And if you guys aren't having issues, I'm thinking it's the updated 2.9 software vs the whole Fenix line(so then I'd think GC & GE)

    Yep, have an open ticket with Garmin that has been escalated to the engineers.
