Heart rate widgets - how it works?

There is a widget showing hear rate for lat 4 hours. It works well. I can see the data from my wrist. If you push "start" button then another screen appears which shows (should show) something called AVG.RHR for lat 7 days. On my watch is blank. Should I do something special to have this data?

Any advise?

  • Does the HR widget (the first screen) show your current resting HR?
I'm not sure about this, but maybe the watch needs to accumulate daily resting HR for at least 7 consecutive days in order to calculate average 7-day resting HR, so - just for example - if the device is new and hasn't been used for 7 days so far, then it might show blank average resting HR until you reach 7 days.

    Yes, it shows

I don't think seven consecutive days is the case. The average for each day and it shows 7 last days.

I understand that this widget shows Resting Heart Rate so perhaps I should wear the watch during the night?

The graph shows values for last 7 days, but the Avg. RHR is calculated as an average from those 7 values. Of that I am quite sure.

If you want this value to be reliable, then you probably should, although if you still get the daily RHR - even if it does not represent your true RHR - then the average should be calculated, but - again - probably on the condition that the RHR has been recorded for the last 7 days.
