How to set each lap as 400m ?

Hi there,

As if now, the Fenix 5 (or for that matter Garmin Mobile Connect) records each lap as 1 Km.

But I will be running in a stadium and each round is only 400m

How to do set the Fenix5 (and Garmin Connect Mobile) to record each lap as 400m instead of 1Km ?

Thanks
  • It's a setting for the activity on the watch and not on the phone. If you start the run app (for example), press menu (long press of "up", then 'Run Settings", then go down to "auto-Lap", "Auto lap distance".

It's set based on the activity, so it can be different for run, bike, hiking, etc
  • In running settings, autolap, just set auto distance to whatever you need :)
  • If you are running intervals then you might want to use manual lapping for accuracy. After all when you cross the start finish you know it's 400m. GPS might be inaccurate by a few metres.

Not also there is an interval menu, under run settings: training where you can quickly set up a workout for when you are running track

  • So press start, select run, then hold the middle left button and select training and then intervals.

It allows you do do intervals of the type

    warm up
    then a number of:
    interval
    rest
    then cool down

so you can set it up for wu, then 10x 800m with a 3minute rest then cd for example.

the intervals can be measured in distance, or time or open (which is run until lap is pressed, i.e. Self measured on a track). The rest can be time, distance or open as well.

it works really well if you forget to set up a workout and just want to set and go when you are at the track.

best way to understand it is have a play. You can set it running indoors and just see it step through the program (if you use time or open as the type)
