Altimeter stuck

Whether moving up, down, staying still, my altimeter is stuck at 111 mtrs. I have tried powering down the watch, but it never changes. Is this a firmware issue, or could I have a problem with the watch? When I first got it, the altimeter was changing constantly.

What about barometer? Does it change or not?

The arrow on the barometer is the only indicator, but it does seem to change. Odd the altimeter stays the same but the barometer indicator moves. I also get storm warnings for absolutely no reason!
  • You might want to check your Barometer settings:

    http://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/fenix5/EN-US/GUID-CDC9DDEE-C576-4E1D-B007-BC737686793A.html

    Storm Alert
Sets the rate of barometric pressure change that triggers a storm alert.

    Watch Mode
Sets the sensor used in watch mode. The Auto option uses both the altimeter and barometer according to your movement. You can use the Altimeter option when your activity involves changes in altitude, or the Barometer option when your activity does not involve changes in altitude.

I have the storm alert set at the widest tolerance and still get weird storm alert warnings (seems to be triggered by simple things, such as entering my car etc). The watch mode is set to auto.
  • The baro is adjusted to sea level, so changing elevation really shouldn't change it (the trend should be flat), unless the altimeter is not working properly, and then MSL adjustment is thrown off. In my sig is a link to the app store and "Not So Simple" that allows you to see the baro and elevation (and graphs for both) all at the same time on an f5. (I scale the graphs so you'll see even minor changes in either)

Thanks! I will load this and test tomorrow over different elevations.

Did you try calibrating the altimeter?

Yes... It changed the elevation, but does not change the fact the elevation then stays stuck on that figure, regardless of real elevation changes.

Get a replacement then.. seems to be defective.

Not looking good at the moment! I will try calibrating again tomorrow, but have already done it twice. The storm warning is getting a little annoying.
