LiveTrack won't stop AGAIN

Last week I tried to use LiveTrack, but it failed to end the LiveTrack session and left me unable to sync via bluetooth, I had to do a factory reset. Massive pain, lost everything, it took all day to set the watch up again and I had to start gathering the Training Status, VO2 Max, Lactate Threshold, etc etc again from scratch.

Later that day Garmin released an update, and one of the fixes was that very issue.

So today I gave it a second try, and it's still broken! My watch cannot end the session. I'm going to have to reset everything again and lose what little data I'd managed to build up! Arggghhhhhhhhhhh

Any ideas on what else I can do to avoid a reset? Last time somebody said they fixed it by starting a second LiveTrack session, but that isn't working either.

Same issue here with F5 and F5s. You can avoid reset by stopping livetrack manually in phone menu.

Same with me using Fenix 5... Livetrack stuck and it prevented all syncing between the phone and the watch. I used it with Strava Beacon.

I could still sync using USB to my computer, but nothing else worked, I could not cancel it through my phone (Garmin Connect) either.

So I had to do a full reset. Will be a while before I switch it on again.

Same issue here with F5 and F5s. You can avoid reset by stopping livetrack manually in phone menu.

My phone said it was already stopped.

I reset in the end. I tried to copy all the .FIT binary files that you can see via USB Mass Storage. It looked like they were for settings etc. I copied them back after reset, but I still lost 90% of stuff on the watch. My activities are there but things like training status ignore them, I'm back to waiting a week before that will work.

Fair enough bugs happen and sometimes you need to reset, but at least give us a way to back things up.

I had the same problem yesterday and was starting to get nervous reading this thread.
However, I managed to get the LiveTrack issue resolved without resetting the watch:

1) stop LiveTrack in GC app (iOS)
2) deactivate automatic start in GC
3) manually start and stop a session in GC

Correct, this procedure worked for me as well the only one time this happened. And I can confirm this work on Android as well.

Dealing with this issue right now. Unfortunately before reading this thread, I thought the best thing to do would be to remove my fēnix 5 from the iOS app and then repair it, assuming that would fix the issue. Now I'm unable to turn off LiveTrack from the iOS app and perform the fix above. Is there a way to force it to stop the session via the filesystem?

THANK YOU!!! I had this happen this morning and for the life of me, I couldn't figure out how to stop the live connect session (because the phone didn't even know there was a session). For some reason - my 5x will just randomly start a livetrack session while not even in an activity (like after unplugging from the charger)...
